However, changes in the number and shape of chromosomes can occur. For example, there are cases where there should be two chromosomes 21, but there are three. This is called<strong> trisomy 21\uff08Down syndrome\uff09<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, if an excess or deficiency in the amount of chromosomes occurs. It is known that sex chromosome aneuploidy is high in frequency. Sex chromosome aneuploidies are said to cause only mild degrees of symptoms, but many cases show reduced intelligence and other symptoms. Of these, it is worth noting that DiGeorge syndrome is more frequent than chromosomes 13 and 18. DiGeorge syndrome is associated with only minor deletions, so survival is considered to be relatively long. To be sure, our data are also placed on the far right. In Down syndrome, one out of 135 cases was positive. Of those who had amniotic fluid taken, more than 95 per cent had a positive amniotic fluid test. This may be due to the fact that people at relatively high risk are being examined. For Down syndrome, one in 332 people was positive when restricted to those under 35 years of age. The minimum and maximum frequencies are based on the data at the time of the defensive period, so the figures may be lower; for chromosomes 13 and 18, there is a further difference between the literature and our data, which may be due to the low survival probability. This does not include the detection of partial deletions, partial duplications and whole chromosomes. The next most common is trisomy of the other chromosomes. Monosomy is also included, but this is very rare and can almost always be considered a trisomy. This is followed by trisomy 18, sex chromosome aneuploidy and partial deletion partial duplication. The detection of chromosomes 21, 18 and 13, which is recommended in obstetrics and gynaecology, results in 433 positive cases, while the detection of the others results in 436 cases. Only about half are detected. Comparing the frequency of occurrence between age groups, chromosomes 21 and 18 are detected three to four times more frequently than in those under 35 years of age. Maternal age seems to play a major role. The sex chromosomes and partial deletions and partial duplications have relatively small magnitudes.
