Causes of the disease<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>17p12 deletion syndrome is caused by the deletion of a gene located in the short arm (17p12) region of chromosome 17. The deletion of this gene causes abnormalities in the peripheral nerves and is known to cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A). This causes a decrease in nerve conduction velocity, resulting in abnormalities in muscle strength and sensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Symptoms\"><\/span>2. Symptoms<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Muscle weakness<\/strong>&nbsp;: Muscle weakness, mainly in the lower limbs, can occur, making walking difficult.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paresthesia<\/strong>&nbsp;: Numbness or paresthesia may occur in the hands and feet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Foot deformities<\/strong>&nbsp;: Foot deformities such as high arches and hammertoes may be present.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Motor difficulties<\/strong>&nbsp;: This can affect fine motor skills and hand movements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Treatment\"><\/span>3.
