The ‘positivity score’ is a number that measures how far away from the ‘cut-off value’ the boundary between positive and negative results is. The higher the number, the further away from the cut-off value.
By calculating this positive score, if a positive result is obtained, the probability of a truly positive result can be known to some extent before the amniotic fluid test is performed, and can be used as part of the decision on whether or not to perform an amniotic fluid test.
Cut-off values are reference values set by Illumina for chromosomes 21, 18, 13 and full-domain partial deletions and duplications.
Note: The testing healthcare provider will only receive negative or positive results if the test is performed by another laboratory as usual. GeneTech and Verinata Healthcare do not provide numerical data other than positive-negative results to medical institutions. Medical institutions cannot obtain information on the level of positivity even if they inquire. (As of January 2021, according to our own research).
Because the test is safe and secure in Japan, the results are notified in as little as three days, with the date of blood collection as day 0.
Hiro Clinic NIPT is the only facility in Japan ※ that can test for more than 54 types of partial deletions and duplications of all autosomal regions, including ‘all-autosomal whole-region partial duplication disease’.
The only Illumina equipment that has been published in academic papers has been installed, making it the most reliable in the country.

Blood collection

As this is a Hiro Clinic partner institution, there are no age restrictions for NIPT testing, as is the case with the Hiro Clinic.
Anyone whose pregnancy is confirmed by an ultrasound can have this examination, but it is recommended that it be done by 14 weeks if you plan to have an amniotic fluid test if it is positive. Pregnant twins are also eligible for this test.
If you have single twin death syndrome (vanishing twin), please contact us. However, the test may not be accurate in the following cases. If you have trisomy, monosomy, etc., if the mother has a genetic abnormality, if the foetus is triploid or tetraploid, if you have received stem cell therapy, if you have received immunotherapy, if you have had an organ transplant, if you have had a blood transfusion in the last 12 months.

There is no limit to how many weeks NIPT must be taken. Earlier is preferable, taking into account amniotic fluid testing and other factors.
