What is Male Pattern Baldness (AGA)?
Male pattern baldness, also known as AGA (Androgenic Alopecia), is the most common type of hair loss that occurs in adult men.
It is characterized by hair loss at the front hairline and the crown of the head, or the gradual recession of hair in those areas.
Most of the hair in the affected areas turns into fine (soft) hair, and as it progresses, the hair may completely disappear.
Normally, hair on the head grows thick and long for about 2 to 7 years during the growth phase. Eventually, the growth phase ends, and after a few months, the hair naturally falls out during the regression phase, and prepares for new hair to grow during the resting phase. These three hair cycles repeat.
However, in male pattern baldness (AGA), this hair cycle begins to become disrupted, and the hair is unable to grow into thick, long strands. Hair that fails to grow properly remains fine (soft) and eventually falls out, making the balding areas become more noticeable.
While it was previously thought that AGA most commonly begins in the 30s, recently, cases in younger individuals, including those in their teens, have been on the rise.
Male pattern baldness (AGA) progresses slowly in the first few years, but then accelerates rapidly. Once the strength of the hair roots significantly declines, it may become difficult to restore the hair to its original condition. It is important to begin taking action before the condition progresses.
Hair Cycle in Male Pattern Baldness (AGA)
In male pattern baldness (AGA), the action of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is the cause of the shortening of the hair growth phase. When the growth phase becomes shorter, hair falls out before it has a chance to grow long and thick. As a result, fine, short hairs become more common, making the thinning hair more noticeable overall.
※DHT (dihydrotestosterone) has a strong effect on shrinking the hair follicles, which leads to hair loss symptoms.
The regression phase lasts about 2 weeks, and the resting phase lasts 3 to 4 months, repeating the hair cycle. However, in male pattern baldness (AGA), the growth phase of this hair cycle becomes shorter.
As the growth phase ends, the activity of the hair matrix cells, which are the core of the hair, decreases, and the hair prepares to enter the resting phase.
When hair growth stops, it does not immediately fall out. Instead, it remains in the hair follicle for a while, eventually falling out due to physical factors, such as being pulled.
Causes of Hair Loss
There is not just one cause of thinning hair or hair loss. It is usually a combination of various factors, so it is important to be aware of them and improve what can be improved. In particular, there are four main causes of hair loss.
If you continue with a diet lacking in nutrients, unbalanced meals, or irregular sleep patterns, your body’s metabolic function will weaken, which can negatively affect your hair and scalp.
When the male hormone testosterone reacts with reductase enzymes in the body, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is produced. This DHT is one of the factors that causes hair loss.
Stress is a major cause of imbalance in the autonomic nervous system. When the autonomic nervous system is disrupted, blood flow becomes poor, making it harder for nutrients to reach the hair follicles.
When the genetic information for thinning or hair loss is expressed in your DNA, it interferes with the growth of hair.

What is Dr. CYJ Hair Filler?
“Dr. CYJ Hair Filler” is the world’s first hair injection using peptides. It contains a patented peptide complex that strongly promotes hair regrowth and the reconstruction of the scalp.
Peptides are substances formed when two or more amino acids bind together at specific sites, and these substances function similarly to growth factors that stimulate hair growth.
Dr. CYJ Hair Filler is suitable not only for male pattern baldness (AGA) but also for conditions like female diffuse hair loss and other cases of overall thinning hair.
Furthermore, it can be combined with other treatments or therapies to enhance synergistic effects.
Dr. CYJ Hair Filler contains seven functional peptides that are effective in hair regeneration, all encapsulated in a hyaluronic acid gel. The hyaluronic acid gel slowly absorbs over 15 days after injection, allowing for long-term action on the hair follicles.
As a result, this treatment is not only effective for men but can also be used for women experiencing hair thinning. In addition to improving hair thickness and density, and reducing hair loss and thinning, it is also effective in preventing premature graying.

Types of Medications for AGA Treatment
Finasteride is an oral medication used to treat male pattern baldness (AGA). This drug helps reduce hair loss and promotes hair regrowth.
Male pattern baldness is caused by the effect of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a type of male hormone, on the hair follicles. Finasteride works by inhibiting the production of DHT, preventing hair loss and encouraging hair growth.
When taking finasteride, many patients experience a reduction in hair loss and an increase in hair growth. It typically takes 3 to 6 months for noticeable results, so consistent use is essential.
Dutasteride is another oral medication used to treat male pattern baldness (AGA). Like finasteride, dutasteride helps reduce hair loss and promotes hair growth.
Dutasteride works by inhibiting the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, which is responsible for converting testosterone into DHT. Unlike finasteride, which only inhibits the type 2 enzyme, dutasteride inhibits both type 1 and type 2 5-alpha reductase enzymes, making it potentially more effective.
When taking dutasteride, many patients notice reduced hair loss and improved hair growth. It typically takes 3 to 6 months to see visible results, and it’s important to continue taking the medication regularly.
Minoxidil is a topical medication used primarily for the treatment of male and female pattern baldness (AGA and FFA). It helps promote hair growth and can improve thinning or hair loss.
Minoxidil improves blood circulation in the scalp, delivering nutrients to the hair follicles, which helps promote hair growth. It also extends the anagen phase (growth phase) of the hair cycle, allowing hair to grow thicker and longer.
When using minoxidil, many individuals experience hair growth, although it may take 3 to 6 months to notice improvements. In the first few weeks of use, there may be an increase in shedding, but this is usually a temporary phase as the hair cycle adjusts, and new hair will grow in afterward.
At Hiro Clinic, to maximize the effectiveness of hair loss treatment, we offer a prescription set of oral medications under the supervision of our medical professionals. The set includes:3 Multivitamin tablets, 1 Dutasteride tablet and 1 Minoxidil tablet. Taking the multivitamins can help supplement the vitamins and minerals essential for hair health.
Zinc is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in many bodily functions, including cell growth and repair, immune function, protein synthesis, and DNA production. Zinc is also important for maintaining healthy hair.
Zinc is involved in regulating hormone balance, which can help prevent hair loss caused by hormonal imbalances. A deficiency in zinc can slow hair growth and lead to increased hair shedding. Zinc deficiency may occur due to poor diet, stress, excessive alcohol consumption, or digestive issues. By properly supplementing with zinc, you can support the health of both your hair and your body.
However, zinc alone cannot resolve all causes of hair loss. For conditions like male pattern baldness (AGA) or other forms of hair loss, specific medications like finasteride or minoxidil may be needed.
※Please consult with a physician about possible side effects and proper usage.
Precautions for AGA Treatment
Who Should Not Undergo the Test
Some medications used for AGA treatment may contain ingredients that lower blood pressure. However, if the treatment is monitored regularly, there should be no issue. That said, it is not recommended for individuals who already have low blood pressure.

Precautions for Hair Growth Factor Mesotherapy & Dr. CYJ Hair Filler Treatment
- Some discomfort, such as mild pain and slight bleeding, may occur, but these effects are temporary and only during the treatment. Redness and a slight stinging sensation on the scalp will gradually improve after the treatment.
- Please wash your hair at home before coming for the treatment.
- Avoid using any hair styling products such as gels or sprays.
- On the day of the treatment, refrain from using shampoo. Instead, gently rinse your hair with lukewarm water. Additionally, avoid hair dyeing or perming for 7 days following the treatment.
This is the period when hair grows. The hair matrix cells, which had previously disappeared, are reformed, and the hair continues to grow at a steady rate.
