What is Male Pattern Baldness (AGA)?
Male pattern baldness, also known as AGA (Androgenic Alopecia), is said to account for the majority of hair loss cases in adult men.
It is characterized by hair loss at the frontal hairline and crown of the head, and the gradual recession of hair in those areas. Many of the hairs in the affected areas become vellus hairs (fine, soft hairs), and as the condition progresses further, the hair may disappear completely.

Normally, scalp hair continues to grow thick and long for about 2 to 7 years (growth phase). Eventually, the growth phase ends, and over the course of several months, the hair naturally falls out (regression phase), and new hair begins to grow (resting phase) — repeating this three-phase hair cycle.
However, with male pattern baldness, this hair cycle becomes disrupted, and hair is no longer able to grow thick and long.
Hair that cannot grow properly remains as vellus hair, ends its growth prematurely, and falls out — making the thinning areas more noticeable.
Until now, most cases were believed to begin in the 30s, but recently, more teenagers and younger individuals have also begun experiencing it.

Male pattern baldness / AGA progresses slowly over the first few years, but then begins to accelerate rapidly.
Once the strength of the hair follicles has significantly declined, it may become difficult to restore the hair to its original state.
That’s why it is important to start treatment before the condition progresses.

Hair Cycle in Male Pattern Baldness (AGA)
In male pattern baldness (AGA), the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone) shortens the growth phase of the hair cycle.
When the growth phase is shortened, hair falls out before it can grow long and thick. As more hair remains thin and short without proper development, overall hair thinning becomes more noticeable.
※ DHT (dihydrotestosterone) has a strong effect that causes shrinkage of hair follicles, which leads to hair loss symptoms.

The regression phase lasts about 2 weeks, and the resting phase lasts 3 to 4 months, repeating as part of the normal hair cycle.
However, in AGA, the growth phase of this cycle becomes abnormally shortened.

Toward the end of the growth phase, the activity of the hair matrix cells — the core structure responsible for hair production — begins to decline, preparing the hair to enter the resting phase.
Hair growth stops, but the hair does not immediately fall out. Instead, it remains in the follicle for a while, eventually shedding due to physical triggers, such as pulling or friction.
Causes of Hair Loss
Hair thinning and hair loss are not caused by a single factor.
Multiple elements often overlap, so it’s important to be aware of these factors and take steps to improve what can be changed.
There are four main causes of hair loss:
Unbalanced nutrition, irregular eating habits, and poor sleep patterns can weaken the body’s metabolic functions, which in turn negatively affects the health of the hair and scalp.
When the male hormone testosterone reacts with the enzyme 5α-reductase in the body, it produces dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
DHT is one of the main causes of hair follicle shrinkage and hair loss.
Stress is a major factor in disrupting the autonomic nervous system.
When this balance is disturbed, blood circulation worsens, and the scalp may not receive adequate nutrients, which impairs hair growth.
If hair thinning or hair loss is encoded in your DNA, these genetic programs can inhibit normal hair growth, leading to progressive thinning.

What is Dr. CYJ Hair Filler?
Dr. CYJ Hair Filler is the world’s first peptide-based injectable treatment for hair restoration.
It contains a patented peptide complex that powerfully promotes hair regrowth and scalp rejuvenation.
Peptides are substances formed by the binding of two or more amino acids at specific sites, and they function similarly to growth factors that stimulate hair growth.
This treatment is suitable not only for male pattern baldness (AGA), but also for female diffuse hair loss and other conditions where hair is generally thinning.
It can also be combined with other treatments or therapies to enhance results through synergistic effects.

Dr. CYJ Hair Filler contains seven types of functional peptides known for their hair-regenerating effects, encapsulated in a hyaluronic acid gel.
The gel gradually diffuses over 15 days after injection, allowing for sustained action on the hair follicles.
As a result, the treatment is effective for both men and women, not only improving hair thickness and density and reducing hair loss, but also helping to prevent graying.

About the Types of Medications
Finasteride is an oral medication used to treat male pattern baldness (AGA). It helps reduce hair loss and promote hair regrowth.
Male pattern baldness progresses when dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a type of male hormone, affects the hair roots. Finasteride works by suppressing the production of DHT, thereby preventing hair loss and stimulating hair growth.
Many patients taking Finasteride experience a reduction in hair loss and increased hair volume.
It generally takes 3 to 6 months for visible results, so patience and consistency are important.
Dutasteride is another oral medication used to treat male pattern baldness (AGA). It helps reduce hair loss and supports hair regrowth.
Dutasteride inhibits the enzyme 5α-reductase, which is responsible for producing DHT.
Because it blocks both Type 1 and Type 2 5α-reductase, it is considered more potent than Finasteride.
Many patients taking Dutasteride notice a decrease in hair loss and an increase in hair growth.
It typically takes 3 to 6 months to see effects, and continuous use is essential.
Minoxidil is a topical treatment mainly used for both male and female pattern hair loss.
It promotes hair regrowth and helps improve thinning or balding.
Minoxidil improves blood circulation in the scalp, delivering nutrients to the hair follicles and extending the growth phase of the hair cycle, allowing hair to grow thicker and longer.
Many users notice increased hair growth after starting treatment.
It generally takes 3 to 6 months for visible results.
In the first few weeks, a temporary increase in shedding may occur due to changes in the hair cycle — this is a normal sign of the treatment starting to work.
To enhance treatment results for hair loss, Hiro Clinic offers a physician-supervised oral medication set.
This set includes:
- 3 Multivitamin tablets
- 1 Dutasteride tablet
- 1 Minoxidil tablet
Multivitamins help supplement the essential vitamins and minerals needed for healthy hair.
Zinc is an essential mineral that plays a critical role in the body.
It supports cell growth and repair, immune function, protein synthesis, and DNA production, and is vital for hair health.
Zinc also helps regulate hormonal balance, and may prevent hair thinning caused by hormonal imbalances.
A deficiency in zinc can lead to slowed hair growth or increased hair loss. Causes of deficiency include an unbalanced diet, stress, excessive alcohol intake, or digestive absorption issues.
Taking appropriate amounts of zinc can help maintain both hair and overall health.
However, zinc alone cannot resolve all causes of hair loss. For conditions like AGA (Androgenetic Alopecia), medications like Finasteride and Minoxidil may be required.
※Please consult your doctor about potential side effects and proper usage.
Important Notes About AGA Treatment

Notes on Growth Factor Mesotherapy & Dr. CYJ Hair Filler
- There may be slight pain and minor bleeding or oozing, but only during the treatment. Redness and stinging of the scalp will gradually improve after the procedure.
- Before the treatment, please wash your hair at home in advance.
- On the day of the treatment, avoid using styling products.
- After the treatment, on the same day, do not use shampoo; rinse gently with lukewarm water only. Also, refrain from hair coloring and perming for 7 days after the injection.
How to Use the Mino Scalp Check

This is the period during which hair actively grows. Hair matrix cells, which had previously disappeared, are regenerated, and the hair continues to grow steadily at a constant rate.
