This DNA test confirms biological parentage by analyzing fetal tissue (extracted during the abortion procedure) to determine the relationship between the child and potential parents.
Paternity is established by comparing the DNA of the fetus, the mother, and the alleged father.
Fetal samples used for testing typically include:
- Chorionic villi (for early-stage abortions)
- Placenta or umbilical cord (for mid-term abortions)
- Amniotic fluid (during pregnancy)
In addition, buccal (cheek) cell samples are collected using sterile swabs from the mother and the alleged father.
