Reminders regarding the NIPT Test
Read this before taking the test
NIPT is an accurate test with a sensitivity of 96.5% and specificity of 99.9% (median value for trisomy 21), but it is not a definitive test.
If a positive result is found or a positive result is withheld, a test (amniotic fluid test or chorionic villus test) must be performed to confirm the test result.
Proof of current pregnancy is required for the test. Please bring your Maternal and Child Health Handbook and an ultrasound image.
When the test result is an error
If there is an error in the results, we will retest free of charge only if there was an error in the technical aspects of the test, such as insufficient amount of blood collected.
There hasn’t been an error happened in Hiro clinic NIPT and the laboratory deems it is not necessary to retest.
We do not recommend retesting because it is highly likely that the same error will occur.

What is NIPT (Non-invasive Prenatal Test)?
What exactly is NIPT?
(NIPT) is a new non-invasive prenatal test that uses only a blood sample from a pregnant woman to determine whether the fetus has a chromosomal abnormality such as Down syndrome.
What will NIPT tell us?
An abnormality in which the number of chromosomes, which normally have two each, is greater than or less than one, is called a numerical chromosome abnormality.
The NIPT at Hiro Clinic NIPT can detect trisomies as well as monosomies and other numerical abnormalities.
In addition, structural abnormalities such as missing or duplicated chromosomes can also be reported. For details, please read What is NIPT (Non-invasive Prenatal Testing)?
